COVID-19 update: HeartWork Organizing has no insight into which shred events might still happen as scheduled and which might not. PLEASE contact the event host (not us) for the latest.

Looking for a “free community shredding event near me”? Bring your paperwork to shred to one of the events listed here in through the end of 2022. We attempt to ensure this information is updated and correct, but you really should verify dates, locations, fees, accepted materials and other pertinent details with the event hosts before heading to any shredding event.

Many of these shred events are free, but some are not. Many shredding events hosted by municipalities are open only to local residents. Please check each venue. Find more general and useful information on shredding and recycling events here. Scroll down for event dates.

Electronics Recycling

Most paper shredding events do NOT accept electronics for recycling. As of 2018, it’s difficult to find a site to recycle a large, non-flat screen TV due to laws and fees associated with electronics disposal. It is unlawful to put your TV at the curb in PA. Contact PAR Recycle Works for pickup of your tube-style monitors and TVs.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events

If improperly discarded, household products containing toxic chemicals can be a threat to people, pets and the environment. Never dispose of hazardous materials in the trash as they may harm your sanitation workers or result in a collection vehicle fire. It is also unsafe to pour HHW down a sink or storm drain as it will end up polluting our drinking water.

Please visit this website for Delaware County, PA HHW collection event dates and locations. https://www.delcopa.gov/recycle/hhw.html.

Please visit the state of Delaware’s page for the HHW and monthly paper shredding dates.
