Just kidding, of course I organize in the winter for you. But I don’t organize in the winter at home as much as I do in the summer, and that’s OK.

Don’t Worry About Organizing These As Much In Winter
It’s too cold to organize the inside of my car during the winter.
The roads are too messy to worry about getting the car washed.
Reading material piles up around the house, a byproduct of cocooning.
Clients find it harder to get all the cardboard boxes out for recycling. Sometimes trash doesn’t reliably make it to the curb or dumpster, either.
So if you find yourself getting a little annoyed with seasonal clutter, you are not alone.
It’s OK to spend a few weeks just being cozy and not taking on any big organizing projects. Make a date on the calendar when the days are longer, and you’re not wearing so many layers, to start again.
I always smile this time of year, thinking of all the clients who are parking inside their garage on snowy days, thanks to our summer organizing appointments.
What to Organize During Cold Winter Months
Take the little wins, like clearing off your bathroom sink counter every day, this time of year. Winter is also great for photo organizing on the couch. Organize the tea bags. And of course it’s tax prep season.
By the way, if you live in a snowy area, almost everyone’s floors look like this. Reminder: cleaning is removing dirt (or paw prints) from surfaces. Organizing is putting things where they belong, where you can find them again. Don’t confuse cleaning and organizing, as they require different energy.
To everything there is a season. If this is your season for just staying warm instead of tackling big organizing contacts that is totally OK. Your professional organizer says so.
