How are you coming on this week’s challenge to organize your closet?

Nope, this isn’t the closet.

We’re not to the closet yet.

Yep, there’s a lot of real estate before we get to the closet! Is your closet creeping out into your bedroom, too?

With a space this cute, getting it organized and keeping it organized can feel so, so good! We’ve seen this before, where the hangers, once they are all wrangled together, are much of the problem! Get rid of the nasty hangers, and use the good hangers.

And that clothes rack hanging out by your bed isn’t making it any easier to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Look how big the room is without it!

Remember how I’m always encouraging you to take advantage of allllll your vertical space when organizing? This gal already had this figured out, having installed Ikea shelving above her doorway.

We made two tweaks to her system. We added boot stays to make them all stand at attention, and we alternated toe/heel, which makes a little more room on the shelf.

Also? She decided that a couple of dozen boots should head out to consignment. There’s a lot of space here, but there is a limit.

I just love this closet. I love that she made it pretty with the rug in the middle. I love how all the shoes line up on the left side shelves. I love that the middle display shelves create a boutique-style spot for her accessories and jewelry.

You may have a more modest closet like me, but you can take some ideas from a closet like this, and maybe apply them at home.
