Get Ready for Spring Consignment Sales

This post is sponsored by Just Between Friends- Reading and Western Main Line.

If you have kids, you have stuff. If you have too much stuff, you should check out the Just Between Friends sales, the nearest ones to me coming up in March and April. This is a nationwide franchise company, so readers not near Philly should still check and see if there is a JBF sale near you.

Organize and Consign with JBF

I’ve told you in past years  the JBF how much I love shopping consignment sales. I manage to beat the lines every year, but savvy parents know how great this sale is, and are willing to stand in line to get in!

This year I’m honored to be a JBF insider, and part of their Ambassador team. That means learning about and sharing all of their best tips with YOU! So here goes.

How Can a Consignment Sale Help You Get Organized?

You can see in the picture above how getting ready for a consignment sale forces the organizing process. There are a few things not completely obvious from the before/left picture to the after/right picture.

  1. We found an entire season of clothes for this kid hiding in bins in the garage that he would have otherwise outgrown had we not gone looking for them. That’s a savings of hundreds of dollars in clothes that mom did not have to re-buy.
  2. Instead of storing next season’s clothes in the garage, we are now storing them in the closet, nicely labeled, and there is still plenty of room.
  3. There are now over 300 clothing items on hangers, waiting for the sale. At a minimum suggested sale price of $3 each, these have the potential to bring in nearly $1,000 at the JBF sale, and possibly much more.

What’s So Special about the Just Between Friends (Philly) Sale?

The average JBF consignor earns over $400. Wow. That can pay for your entire annual phone bill.

Speaking of your phone, you can use Siri to help you tag items for sale. OMGosh,

use voice to text to tag for JBF sale

Think you are too busy to sort and tag your items for sale? Here’s another OMG…you can use VALET TAGGING!!!  You gather your goods together and drop it off with an experienced tagger who will price and deliver your items to the sale. Saves a TON of time, and you both get paid.

This sale is not just for babies. Girls sizes go up to juniors, and boys sizes go up to size 18.

There is still time to be a consignor. Many of the kids sale in this area only take a limited amount of consignors, but this sale is HUGE and held in a big ol’ warehouse. They WANT your goods. So head on over now and sign up to consign.

You may still want the option of donating your things, and JBF makes that possible. The last day of the sale most goods are sold at 50%. Any remaining unsold items from the Oaks sale get donated to Cradles to Crayons, a human services group that provides support to Philadelphia area families. Their Reading sale donates to the Children’s Home. And YOU still get the receipt of donated items for your tax records. I explain how those donations earn you cash at tax time in this post. So you earn cash from the sale and earn MORE cash when you do your taxes and do good at the same time. Sweet!

Let’s face it, baby clothes and gear may be cute, but they are not timeless. Every season that your goods sit packed in a bin or jammed in the back of a closet, you are not only less organized and more squeezed for space, but those items go down in value. Sell them now, before they lose value or get damaged in storage.
