This is the kind of multi-tasking that I love! Last holiday season, I pinned this fab sugar scrub from OffBeat and Inspired. I didn’t actually have a chance to make it, but I did buy the ingredients.
Six months pass, and I’ve got a new role. I’ve stepped up to become the new chapter leader for the Mothers and More group in my area. I’ve been a member for a little over five years, and some days I feel like I owe these women my life. Mothers and More is a national organization that focuses on the woman behind the mom. It’s an excellent mix of employed, entrepreneurial, and stay at home moms, along with a great mix of new and more seasoned moms (and at least one grandma in our chapter). Many of us have moved into the area only recently, and this group is a great way to make friends and learn about the area quickly. Our chapter meets once a month for interesting programs and other times during the month for lunches, walks, book club, and such.
I’m not taking on this new leadership role because of me, but rather because I want this amazing female resource to be around for the next mom who needs girlfriends to lean on.
This is where this whole story comes together. Some amazing ladies have also stepped up to take on board member roles, and none of us really have the time to add one more thing to our plate. But here we are, clearing time on our calendars for girl time and for time to deal with the logistics of running a chapter. Setting up programs, taking care of the checkbook, creating marketing materials, getting the word out to local media, communicating with members, and so much more.
So I did what any blogger would do. LOL. I found my sugar scrub pin and whipped up a batch. I did cheat a little, starting with vanilla coffee and omitting the vanilla bean. I was going to leave out the dash of olive oil too, but added it at the last minute.
This batch according to the recipe filled five 3-oz. jars that I purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond in their travel and trial size section.
I used small tags I had already and just hand-labeled them.
This scrub smells divine. I’ve always loved the smell of coffee even though I don’t like the taste. Even better, this treat is loaded with calories, but not a one will end up on the hips (and even then, it just rinses off)! You can use this on face or hands. Coconut oil has been doing great things for my skin lately.
That’s it, folks. Honestly, that’s about as crafty as I get. I shared these with my incoming board members to remind them that they are as sweet as they come (sugar), they are what makes our chapter run smoothly (oil), and they might want to grab some caffeine (coffee) for the next year as we look forward to lots of new members finding out just how awesome our Mothers and More chapter is.
If you want to find out more about Mothers and More, please visit their national website and find a chapter near you.
Who would you make this coffee sugar scrub for?
By the way, congrats to Maria and Julie who both won an HGTV Magazine prize from me, and Marcia L In MD who won the Calphalon Slow Cooker! I have another great giveaway coming soon.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I’ll be making some for holiday gifts this year. And, thanks for taking on leadership of Mothers and More in your area. I was a member for over 20 years, starting a chapter in Austin, Texas, and then working as a regional coordinator for a number of years. What a great organization!
Thanks, Priscilla. Hope you love the sugar scrub recipe. I think it’s amazing how many women know of Mothers and More. It is a wonderful nationwide organization, as you well know. And now we even have a virtual chapter folks can join if they aren’t close to a physical chapter.
