I’ve watched with interest the vacuum wars. Dyson launched their revolutionary cyclone technology in 1993, and they are just now starting to see competitors with similar technology. I’m smitten with the Shark LiftAway, at hundreds of dollars less than the Dyson, but without the very sexy yellow ball. I don’t own one yet, but if I see one more late night TV pitch, my will might be broken.
Around about 2005, I noticed that many of my clients were trading in their Hoovers for Dysons. While I’ve used Dysons briefly at jobs, I can’t say whether they would work better in my home.
Do you have any experience with the cyclonic technology for vacuums? What do you think?
I recently bought the Shark LiftAway and I am in love! My other vacuum is ‘new’ (less than 2 years), but it is extremely heavy especially when using it on the two sets of stairs in my house. The Shark LiftAway was easy to assemble within minutes. The suction works great and the cleaning of the container is very easy and not messy. I am completely thrilled with how lightweight the vacuum is and I can easily ‘LiftAway’ to do my stairs. It is not big and bulky and stores nicely in my closet. For the price of this vacuum (make sure to use your 20% coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond!), I am thrilled with my decision and would put it up against a more expensive product any day!
Good to know. I’ve about had it with my wimpy little rechargeable floor stick/dustbuster combo for upstairs. I’m very close to trading up.
